Rating: PG-13 Director: Robert Luketic I enjoyed watching this movie. It is a movie that most everyone has seen so I decided that I needed to watch it and I’m glad I did. It was really funny but also had elements that relate to the real world. I appreciated the fact that they portrayed a strong female lead. She starts out by being stereotyped because of the color of her hair and ends up proving herself. As a blonde haired girl I know her struggle of being thought of as a “dumb blonde.” This movie is a great portrayal of female power. She pawns after a guy but proves herself in a male dominated field and shows how looks aren’t everything when it comes to intelligence. This movie also has a great color scheme with all the bright colors inside of it. There’s lots of pink but even in the Ivy League school environment with bland colors, they still incorporated a loud color scheme which drew lots of attention. Reese Witherspoon was excellent in this movie. She would go from crying to smiling in only a small amount of time. She is a wonderful actress and really helps this movie be amazing. I love the overall theme of how intelligence doesn’t have one specific look. Intelligence can be anyone and you shouldn’t ever give up because people doubt you. This movie also discusses the realness behind everyday jobs. The lawyer for the girl Elle worked for had one of the other girls bring him his coffee and never cared about what she had to say. This movie allowed Elle to stand up for women in the attorney field. It had comedic effect behind serious topics of the real world such as sexual harassment, like Elle experienced from her boss. I just really appreciated the portrayal of women in this movie, specifically at the end when Elle gives the honorary speech at the graduation ceremony. It was also cool to see how a murder case is taken care of. I know it’s not exactly true but for the most part it allowed me to get a feel for what goes into being a lawyer. This movie was fantastic and I enjoyed it a lot but it’s definitely not for everyone. It has both a realistic and fictional feel to it which is nice to have. Movie Trailer: youtu.be/Phm3lpdR3_g

Rating: PG-13 (brief strong language and a young man sings "I'm sexy and I know it.") Director: Justin Baldoni I genuinely enjoyed this movie. I think it was awesome how the songs from his band ‘A Firm Handshake’ played over parts of the movie, instead of random songs that have no connection to him. It allowed the viewers to hear how amazing of a songwriter he and his best friend, Sammy Brown, were. I think the acting in it was really great and felt like I was watching the moments of Zach’s life play out in front of me. The best part of this movie is the humor in between the sad parts. The movie overall was more sad than funny, but it wasn’t all about making the viewers want to cry and instead allowed tons of laughter in between the sadness. Another aspect of the movie that was cool to see was Sabrina Carpenter, who’s most known for singing, portraying Zach’s best friend. They probably wanted her because she could sing, but she did really well in the actress role. I watched this movie with my sister and we both highly recommend it to everyone. It does a fantastic job of keeping viewers engaged and the true story part of it just makes it all the better because I enjoy those kinds of movies. This movie definitely isn't for everyone because it’s not so action packed, but it's very inspirational and is a beautifully played out movie. After watching it, you feel like you were part of his life by seeing the highs and lows as well as what brought him to sing songs that everyone was inspired by allowing him to become a youtube sensation.
