Rating: PG-13 Director: Rawson Marshall Thurber Ok, yes this is another Netflix film, but there is nothing wrong with watching good movies. This was a very good movie. I always enjoy watching Dwayne Johnson on screen, but I have never seen Ryan Reynolds as much. I specifically enjoyed his character the most. He played the part extremely well and provided the best comedy. Even if the comedy was childish or kinda stupid, I thought Ryan Reynolds did a great job and was laughing at everything that came out of his mouth. He and Dwayne Johnson act so well together and this movie was really good. My mom watched it before me and told me it was like an Indiana Jones and The Mummy all pulled together. I was skeptical to watch because I don’t like the parts of Indiana Jones movies I have seen and have not seen The Mummy, so I wasn’t sure how I was going to like it. However after seeing Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds in it, I thought I would give it a try. This movie is definitely one of my favorites. It combines action with a little bit of comedy which I heavily enjoyed. Gal Gadot is an amazing actress. She completely became her character and totally showed how fierce she is. I loved how she beat up Ryan Reynolds and Dwayne Johnson every time their characters had to go against each other. I really thought I knew how this movie would end up, but I was completely wrong. This movie definitely had a twist, but it wasn’t always hidden. There were tons of clues giving away the twist, that I just completely missed, but I’m glad I did because I hate knowing the ending or shocking part of the movie. Overall, this movie was very good and is super entertaining the whole time. The casting, acting and plot totally make this movie worth watching because it was excellent Trailer: youtu.be/Pj0wz7zu3Ms

Rating: R Director: Phil Lord I watched this with my sister and it was hilarious. I’ve heard so many things about this movie and tons of people have seen it so I thought I should watch it. I genuinely enjoyed this movie. I was laughing every 10 seconds with my sister and it was so stupid that it was funny. I enjoyed Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill together because their complete opposite personalities allow this movie to be as hilariously stupid as it is. I think this idea was pretty creative and the cast fit so well. I also thought what added to the comedy was how the jock looking man fit in with the nerds and the nerd was grouped with the “cool” kids. Also the way “cool” kids are portrayed differently than other movies was pretty cool. During the chase scene the Wilhelm scream was totally unnecessary but totally suits the mood of the movie. The things that are said in this movie seriously are entertaining and I’m glad I could watch this comedic film with my sister. I should watch more Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum movies. They might not be well known actors but they are hilarious and I enjoyed my time when watching this movie. I will definitely be watching the second one. Also just found out today during class that 21 Jump Street was based off of a TV show that starred Johnny Depp, who appeared near the end of the movie, which is extremely cool. Rating: R Director: Brian De Palma This movie was wack! I have heard so many people talk about it and I wanted to watch a movie many have seen before. I used to watch the show Riverdale and one of their musical episodes was their performance of Carrie, but of course with their own twist. I knew it had something to do with a girl made fun of and then later had pigs blood poured on her, but I had no idea it was so extreme. The girls are so mean to her just because her mother is crazy and won’t tell Carrie anything about living as a teenager. Carrie is so innocent and no one realizes she has so much power within her to cause destruction. I hated the way she was treated by both her mother and the girls at school. I liked that there was 1 girl in her school who looked out for her and she allowed her boyfriend to take Carrie to the prom instead of herself. At first I thought Tommy was rude and doing it as a joke, but after the movie finished I truly believe he was trying to be nice. My mom warned me it was a crazy movie to see and she was 100% right. The whole act of pouring pigs blood on someone is just despicable and it was awful to watch. They all got what was coming to them, but I don’t think Tommy deserved to die with everyone else, but Carrie was so messed up at that point that she couldn’t hold in her power anymore. I did not like how she just casually walked away from everyone in the building on fire because it was just terrifying to see her be so calm when she is killing her entire school. I also can’t believe her mom was willing to kill her. Carrie’s power eventually took over when she was trying to defend herself from being brutally murdered by her mom, but she still blamed herself for killing her mom. I absolutely despised Carrie’s mom as well as Billy and Chris. Her mom was actually a psychopath and I just cannot believe someone would treat their child like a demon. I don’t think I will ever watch this again, but it was an experience for sure. Rating: R Director: Drew Goddard I enjoyed this movie a lot. It’s definitely out of my comfort zone because I hate horror movies. I just don't enjoy scary movies because it's not my cup of tea. However this weekend since it was Halloween, I wanted to watch something that put me in the spirit. I watched it with my mom and sister who also don’t enjoy horror movies but it was actually pretty funny. It's definitely intense for the most part, but left us laughing more than quite a few times. The actors Chris Hemsworth and Jesse Williams were really good and it was unusual to see them in a movie like this. I’m used to Hemsworth as Thor and I’ve seen Williams star in Grey’s Anatomy, so I quite enjoyed them out of their usual careers. They provided great comedic relief because it's a bunch of naive teenagers at a cabin with a dead family trying to kill them. The storyline was definitely interesting but also a little confusing at times. I was unsure about what the people watching them were doing but eventually figured out that they’re trying to please some god. This movie defied my expectations but in a good way. It added more to the story than I was expecting and kept me on my toes because I was so interested in what was the ultimate goal. I liked the whole movie up until the ending. It feels too easy. It ends in a way that doesn’t really have a finish to the story. I sat through the whole movie just for everyone to die and that just doesn’t seem like it should’ve ended that way. I enjoyed the acting and intense scares and am glad to have gone out of my comfort zone to watch it. Trailer: youtu.be/NsIilFNNmkY |
